If you need to replace a special string in multiple files in multiple directories, you won't find a recursive option in sed. So must combine grep in combination with xargs and finally sed for the replacement. The following one-liner should do the trick :

grep -ilr ‘old-st

Sometimes when you create a virtual machine with vmware you might decide to split the virtual disk into multiple splitparts of 2GB size. This enhance the copying process and sometimes the host file system does not support creating larger files of 2GB.


Taking ownership of system files or folders in Windows 7 or Vista is not a simple task. Whether you use the GUI or the command line, it takes far too many steps.

Thankfully somebody created a registry hack that will give you a menu item for “Take Ownership” that will handle all the steps

If you have mounted an additional harddrive inside an another directory for example inside /var/www/ you may not want to have a lost+found directory to be found there. In my case i gonna deleted it :) Someday in the morning a received the following mail from one of my servers :<
